In this exercise, you will learn to do basic "beauty" photo retouching.
Download and open the sample file in Photoshop:
Create a duplicate layer for changes so the original is the lowest layer.
Remove color cast: add a custom photo filter adjustment layer.
Adjust color saturation, curves, and/or levels as needed using New Adjustment Layer.
Use the spot healing brush to eliminate blemishes. Brush should be just a little bigger than the blemish.
Use healing patch tool to correct larger areas (dark circles under eyes, redness patches). While the selection is active, drag it to a patch of clear skin. Go to Edit>Fade Patch Selection to adjust opacity of patch until it looks natural.
Smooth the skin as needed:
Quick select the skin area (not eyes, lips, hair).
Copy and paste the selection to create a new layer. Duplicate the new layer. Name the bottom one “smooth” and the top one “texture.”
Turn off the “texture” layer, and select “smooth.”
Go to Filter>Blur>Surface Blur and set the radius to about 6 and the threshold to about 30. Click OK.
Turn on the “texture” layer and adjust the opacity until the skin looks smoother but natural.
Save this file! You will use it again in the next exercise.
Can't change a rubric once you've started using it.
