Create an interactive object no bigger than 12" x 12" that can sit on a pedestal.
Start with a concept: Think about an issue you may want to explore through interactivity. What does it mean to have this object change in some way based on human input.
Think about the aesthetics of the object: Its shape, size, texture, color, etc. Is it an object that references something else or an abstract shape?
Consider the interactivity: Will the user find it engaging, fun, conceptually interesting, frustrating, or mysterious when they interact with it.
Carefully plan the technical aspects: Do you need to buy parts? Will you be able to do it based on the knowledge you have now? Is it feasible based on the electronic limitations we are working with? Can you code it? I want you to challenge yourself but not get completely over your head.
Modify everyday objects:
Use a 3D printer and make an object
Create a tapestry or fiber art project
Create a sculpture
Hang your object on the wall
Add electronics to plants or other commonly found elements
Create an interactive book
Create a wearable object
Simulate a real life object
Use mirrors or other elements to have your LEDs reflect
Combine your object with an iPad display
Combine real life with man-made objects
